Blood Flow Restriction Training + Muscle activation

Blood Flow Restriction Training + Muscle activation

September 23, 2020

As lactate increases with use of the tourniquet or blood flow restriction, the nearby muscle get inhibited. This forces the activation of more motor units to maintain the production of force by activating larger muscle fibers. Moritani et al (1992) demonstrated an increase of iEMG signal as occlusion increased and lactate increased.
